In a recent interview with Marie Claire, Scarlett Johansson discussed her experience at the 2015 Oscars when she was still nursing her daughter Rose Dorothy, who was only five months old at the time. Johansson brought her breast pump to the event because “every ounce is like liquid gold.” However, things got complicated when she met up with friends Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Mark somehow got a hold of Johansson’s breast pump and all the milk and ice packs that went with it. When their cars got separated, Kelly realized what had happened and knew how panicked Johansson would be, so she made sure to return the breast pump to its rightful owner. Johansson also talked about her daughter and whether or not she will watch any of her mother’s movies in the future.
Johansson shared that she doesn’t think her daughter is old enough to watch any of her movies except for Sing, but she looks forward to showing her films where she “kicked some a–.” Despite being politically active, Johansson admits that she has experienced sexism and assumed it was obvious that all women struggle with equality. She believes that discrimination and harassment are real issues that everyone faces. Johansson also talks about motherhood and asks candidly about the interviewer’s breastfeeding experience. She is open with her female friends and enjoys discussing personal topics such as sex and vaginal health.
