As a child born into the entertainment industry, Hudson had old-school parents who believed that performers should excel in everything they do. They should be able to dance, sing, and act, and make these skills work together. Naturally, that’s what Hudson wanted to do. She loved singing, dancing, and acting.

Singing was something that Hudson struggled with for a long time until she collaborated with Sia. Creating music with Sia healed her in many ways and gave her permission to express herself through her singing. Now, Hudson feels more confident about singing and enjoys it without any expectations of how it should look.

Hudson is attracted to musicians because they all have a deep connection with music that doesn’t need explaining. They can all feel it, and it’s something they love. However, she doesn’t fall in love with the musician’s lifestyle itself.

You can read more about Hudson’s journey in the March issue of InStyle, available on newsstands, Amazon, and digital download on February 12.
